Quote of the Moment

There are only two stores I'm able to shop at... the Big & Tall store, and... the OTHER Big & Tall store!

I got a car!

Mmph… lots of exclamation points in blogpost titles lately. But no matter. I finally was able to buy a car. It’s a ’99 Toyota 4Runner– silver, with the tow package and luggage rack. Only 63,000 miles, and it’s sweeeeet. I still need some more money to pay it off, but I’m getting there. So beautiful… and I WORKED for it, for every dime and dollar.

Check out just how good-looking it is (I think it’s quite spiffy, myself)… and see why I’m not allowed to drive it until after school is out :p

More money!

Have I got the luck this week. I just got a letter from the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, informing me that I’m a State Finalist for the Most Valuable Student scholarship. Not only do I get to go on to Nationals to compete for $120,000 worth of scholarships, I’m guaranteed a minimum of $4,000 for college! Awesome.

/me slices OU debt in half. Now if I can get the big one… I can buy a car or something ;)

Yay, free money!

A long, long time ago (2002, I believe), I signed up for part of the settlement in the CD price-fixing class action suit. My time has finally come. Today I received a check for thirteen dollars and eighty-six cents. What an odd number…

The trials of Presidential Scholars

So I was nominated for something called the Presidential Scholars Program; it’s funded by the government and gives the winners a trip to Washington D.C. and other goodies. Some stats on it:

  • Top one one-hundredth of one percent of all high school seniors nominated (~2,100)
  • ~140 of nominees selected as Scholars
  • (a) + (b) = I have no chance (lol)

So basically like the uber-leet MSA, which I DID go to. X fingers, here goes nothing, I’ll apply.

The above was all about a month ago, when I received the letter. Little did I know how much applying for this thing would involve.

The Passion

Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ opens Feburary 25. I highly, highly encourage everyone to go see it. Even if you don’t subscribe to the beliefs of Christianity, the events the film portrays are undeniably historical. I plan on seeing it multiple times, if I have time.

Side note: This’ll be the first R movie I’ve ever seen, weird. It felt weird having to have someone else buy tickets for me…
