This was such a great day, in the end
Had physics this morning, yawn, and French and CS after that, both of which I enjoy and are not too hard. I have to get a new French book though; I have the wrong edition and they are too different for me to keep the one I have. And my physics book hasn’t even arrived…
Quizno’s for lunch, which is always happy, and then I came home for a few hours of Linux hacking. The new 2.6.8-11 kernel fixes the problems I was having with my Audigy2, and there was a new kernel-nonGPL-2.6.8-11 module that rectified the printing problems. So now except for my camera, SuSE has 110% of the functionality of Windows. It’s so great to have SSH built-in, and the anti-aliased fonts… mmmmmm! I know I’ve promised a SuSE review before, but this time it’s coming, along with a couple more.
Just as I was about to leave tonight, Justin (new roommate) got his new short bed delivered (one that he can put against, the wall, which I don’t like, because no there’s no room separation… might have to put up a curtain ;)) so I helped him take down the old one. We were disassembling it, and I wasn’t watching what he was doing and he let go of the end, and the main part of the frame SMACKED down on my big toe. Bloodied it up really well and it hurt like crazy, but I got ice on it pretty fast and popped some Ibuprofen. Made it realllllly hard to get to my last class, though, and participate. I have pictures
but no camera in Linux, so I’ll update this post with them later. As well as other updates. Later.
By the way, this post was written completely in Links, a text-based browser. Because I’m waiting for KDE to reboot. Whee.
Update: OU just beat OSU 67 - 57. Time to dance.

I was really, really trying to get the gallery done today, but Gallery is insane with its templates. I don’t even know where to start.
I think it’s back to Coppermine for now, which I understand better. Gallery has some really neat features, but in the end all I want is a simple stream-of-consciousness photo gallery anyways. Stay tuned.
Update: Gag! Gallery even has a WordPress integration plugin. I think this just means that photos are going to be awhile coming.

Is it boring for you to see me just blogging about my day at school?
Oh well.
Had my first CS lab today… we were expected to compile a small Swing application and generate docs for it. Most of the code was provided for us, and the instructor had inserted some errors in the code.
So we got to class, and I, having read the syllabus a couple days ago, had the Java SDK and Eclipse installed and ready to go. About three other people in the 30-person class did. Heh. So the instructor spent the first hour showing them how to install Java, set env vars, and stuff like that. He then opened Notepad to edit code, and showed them how the code wouldn’t compile with the errors in it. Meanwhile, I had Eclipse fired up and it automatically detected all syntax errors without even having to compile the program! So I was done with the program before the others had even started
We then needed to generate documentation and send the program to the repository server. In two clicks Eclipse had complete javadocs created and integrated. Then— while the instructor was showing everyone how to use SSH Secure Shell for Windows, I popped open psftp and putty and had everything uploaded and submitted. The TA came over and kinda stared, since I was using some sort of scary console interface while everyone else had pretty icons and nice windows. But hey, who got done first?
Because I got done so early, I made my ZAP meeting on time. Mark is an awesome guy, a lot of fun to work with. I think I’m going to have a great time being a tutor. I looked at last semester’s ZAP schedule, and it was a few columns in an Excel spreadsheet. So I offered to do him up a dynamic version using Sunbird and PHPiCalendar, so he could update things on the fly. I hope that’ll make me a little more memorable to him if I ever need a recommendation or something
I just got to Tulsa, after getting lost twice and almost running out of gas. Had a computer job to do, and needed to pick up Andrew’s Social Security card. But bleh, I’ve got stuff to do… don’t need to be here. Good to see Mom and Dad though. I’ll get out of here as fast as I can, and get back to do some real work.
Upgrading to WordPress 1.5. Should be back to normal tomorrow. Everything is XHTML 1.1 now, thanks to Magic™— the templating engine I use
Update: Okay, I worked extra hard and now it’s done. Let me know if you see any ickies.
