Quote of the Moment

99 bottles of bugs on the wall, 99 bottles of bugs, take one down and pass it around, run around screaming "Get 'em off!" and get the insecticide.

Done for the day

Stopped in early this morning to check on ZAP with Mark. He got me all signed up and put me on the list, so I’ll start next week. I’m looking forward to it; I like zoo lots and lots.

I had my first class today: PSY 1113, Elements of Psychology. The teacher seems interesting… a bit hyper, but fun. The class is going to be an absolute blowoff, though; 85 points to bandy about and still get an A.

I got out of class and popped over to the bookstore to grab the only book I needed from OU (all the others I got on Half.com for a fraction of what OU would have charged) but the line was huge, so I went to go eat instead. Going afterwards, I was about halfway there when my bike threw its chain massively. Tried to stop and fix it but I needed tools, it wasn’t a simple slipoff. Walked the bike the rest of the way to the store, but the line was still too huge to think about getting to class at 4:30 on time. So I walked back to my room, got a binder even though I didn’t have the book, and went to Physics Lab. Lo and behold, it was canceled. Thank goodness for small favors. Went back, got the book, got the bike, fixed the bike, now I’m home and safe.

Gotta get the Java SDK installed tonight for class tomorrow. Rory had better help me when I get stuck…

Picasa2

Picasa v2 just went live. The best album software, bar none, just got a nice hefty update. Ever since Google bought the company, Picasa has been a free download. Do yourself a favor and try it.

Once you find out how much you like it, get Hello too, so you can send me pictures. My Hello ID is SethKinast.

This new version has some wicked tools in it to make some fun effects. Looky:

StalkerTools are go!

I just completed hooking up the backend of my calendar to the blog. Where’s Seth now shows what class or other activity I’m currently at. Mozilla Sunbird is great, allowing me to keep an offline calendar that syncs with a copy online. No more hardcoded times and dates, like last semester… this one’s dynamic! Now if only it would synch with my Palm…

If my calendar doesn’t reveal my whereabouts, the script next peeks at my AIM away message, to see if it might hold clues. If I’m away, my away message appears to disclose my location. If I’m online with no status, I’m assumed to be in my room. If I’m offline, you get a random pithy guess at where I might be. Fun!

Graagh

I have a new roommate. $jinx = TRUE; hopefully he does not eat brains.

Round II

And I am now moved back in, unpacked, cozied up, and roommate-less*. Goody.

I successfully continued my perfect record of taking a different route to and from OU each time. I get lost a different way each time, and this time was no different. Took the Creek Turnpike south around Tulsa instead of 44 north around Tulsa. But they met up, so it was okay.

I think this might be a record. Not only did I get all sorts of goodies to bring back, but I haven’t forgotten anything. This is good.

I got a bike to get around campus with. I have a nice road bike, but I wouldn’t want to leave it out in the rain or worry about it being stolen. This bike is the $30 mountain bike version… much less maintenance and worry.

Huffy $30 bike

Talked to Melissa about Safewalk and RA jobs. Apparently you do Safewalk while you are waiting for an RA position to open, but you must take it as soon as it opens. Might be worth the blah, for the cash. I dunno.

Now that I’m back at OU, I’m working on replacing that big red space up top with photos. Keep watching. Also trying to get the photos section up but skinning it is really annoying. Sigh.

Mm, fresh clean room and nice clean bed. I think I’ll sleep well.
