Housing Predicaments
Boy, my housing situation just got a lot less certain. Apparently only freshmen will be allowed to live on campus next year.
This is nuts. Can you imagine dorms with only freshmen? Poor RAs. I know Melissa relied a lot on the upperclassmen to answer our questions because there was only one of her and we needed a lot of help. Not to mention that there are a LOT of upperclassmen to find housing for now!
OU wants us to move to apartments. Well I’m not 18, I couldn’t even sign my own lease. I like the dorms, there’s an instant community you can be a part of just by walking out your door. It’s relatively cheap. The bathrooms are cleaned and the trash is taken out. They’re quiet and clean.
I don’t see, really, how we can be told one thing when matriculating and then have such a drastic policy change the next year. Surely all existing students should be grandfathered into the old agreement. Bleh.
I talked to a reporter from the paper about how much this messed up my planning. The whole Honors community signed a petition asking to be allowed to stay. And I guess we’ll just see what happens next.
I better get to looking…

That wouldn’t work here, period. There are already enough troubles finding apartments around Columbus, and there are huge numbers of non-freshman that live both in dorms or in frats/sororities. That’s crazee talk, you write a good article and try and do something about it. ^_^
