Akismet Launches
Akismet, né WordPress, is here for general consumption. It’s a “distributed spam tracker” that works on the principle that many blogs get the same kinds of spams. When you get spam, it’s submitted to the Akismet database, so everyone else will be protected from the nasties.
I’ve disabled all other spam prevention on my blog so we’ll see how this guy holds up 
Oh yeah, and you need a WordPress.com account to use it. WordPress.com users, however, have it built-in.

It sounds pretty good. And from what i’ve heard, it’s really effective.
I should try that sometime too. Although my blog is almost dead and I don’t even get any spam anymore
