Mmm, home

It was OU - Texas weekend, so we got a three-day weekend. Sure, OU got the snot beat outta them, but it’s all good, I got my long weekend.

Best things about going home:

  • Monstrous amounts of lasagna, apple goodie, and chocolate cake
  • Double-layer toilet paper
  • A bed that is big enough I can sleep diagonally on it
  • Being able to run around all day with little clothing on
  • Seeing friends (I had a great Friday night with Kristen and Natalie :) )
  • Nobody in our family plays loud video games with lots of explosions

Still, I’m not sad to be back. I feel more productive for sure.

DeskZilla

So I finally got my membership status approved at Ubuntu (took long enough ;) ) and so now I have a shiny new e-mail address @ubuntu.com, yay!

Today was the release of DeskZilla, which is a desktop interface for Bugzilla, which Ubuntu also uses. Although DeskZilla is a commerical product, they offer free keys to anyone working on an open-source product (such as my work with Ubuntu). So I requested a key :) which should make my Bugzilla work much more efficient.

I just got back from Couch, helping Kaitlin write a paper that is due tomorrow. She wrote it once but found out two days ago that her professor didn’t like the way she presented her argument, so she had spent all weekend rewriting the paper she spent 2 weeks on. So from 11 to 1:15, we hacked it apart and put it back together. I hope it turns out okay.

I guess Kaitlin and her roommate Katie, who is adorable, are carpooling back to Joplin with me, which is really exciting. I’ll be glad to have people to talk to on the way home since it’s such a long trip. And having it be two pretty girls never hurts anything ;)

Yes, there was a bomb that went off this weekend. No one was hurt except the guy who had it strapped to himself. And he was in tiny pieces on the sidewalk until they powerwashed it this afternoon. It was just a suicide, a rather spectacular one, and it was an isolated incident. Everybody is okay.

More later.

Seriously, how could I be any happier? ...Okay, maybe if med school apps were all done.
