10,000 words

I had a burst of energy today (or, perhaps more accurately, a burst of free time) and so spiffed up my room so that I can finally get around to taking pictures of it for all my stalkers admirers readers. It’s truly an amazing thing to have my own room. In the few short weeks I’ve been here, I’ve felt so much more free… not to mention more clean :/

The room itself is about 10 × 16 feet (3 × 5 metres), but having modular furniture, a rackable bed (i.e., there is storage space underneath), and my own bathroom makes it feel like a palace. I can fit my computer, (piano) keyboard, refrigerator, microwave, and two closets, and still have room to spare. It’s beautiful.

But obviously words do nothing justice, so I also have a few pictures.

Charm

So apparently I need to carry a disclaimer sign that says Warning: I charm ladies by accident.

I went to Block & Barrel last night to get a sandwich for Lynn, who was doing SafeWalk. She just wanted a veggie sandwich, but being the… economical… person I am, I couldn’t just see paying the same price but getting no meat. So I got chicken strips on the side *shifty*. When the girl gave me my bag, I just smiled and said thanks, and told her to have a great night.
I then went to Taco Mayo to order my supper. I was waiting for them to make my order, when I saw the Block & Barrel girl waving at me. So I went back over. “Sir, we just made a fresh batch of chicken strips, would you like some more?” She proceeded to dump more chicken into my bag, all the while smiling at me.

Fair enough.

d-d-DNS’d

For about 24 hours, every* website I owned was inaccessible due to some DNS ring changes. Things should be back to normal for everyone within the next 24 hours, but…

  • Very few people were affected (mostly central to western US)
  • Most should be back to normal by now, even.

Bowl o’ Bread

I’m currently sitting downstairs at Couch Express, the tiny café on the ground floor of Couch Center. However, this is no ordinary day for Couch Express. It is… Bread Bowl Day. Each and every Tuesday, bread bowls are the special item of the day.

A bread bowl, for the uninitiated (assumedly Francis), is a round loaf of white or sourdough bread. The middle is then cut out, and it is filled with a soup (today’s soups were potato soup and broccoli & cheese soup). Bacon and cheese are added. Finally, the top of the loaf is put back on to keep things warm. The soup soaks into the bread and makes it all warm and yummy. Mmmmm :)
