Out of the ordinary
Odd things happened this weekend. At the very end of Friday we starting getting some tiny hail; the next morning we had an inch of snow underneath which was slippery, slippery ice. That in itself was odd enough, since the weather has been unseasonably warm many days. However, before I could wake up to see the snow… I had to get through the night first.
I had duty rounds Friday night with Ashley, which start at 10:00 p.m. and usually end around 2:45 a.m. (Second rounds start at 2:00, so you are done as soon as you can finish them.) We hung out in the office until midnight, when we left for first rounds. I was so glad to be doing weekend rounds with her; she is a ton of fun and really sweet… definitely the kind of personality you like to spend 7 hours with
…wait, 7 hours? Indeed. We had been on rounds for 20 minutes when we heard a room playing really loud music. We stopped and knocked to ask them to turn it down, but as soon as they opened the door the stink of alcohol slapped us across the collective face. Yeah, it was a party with lots of beer (OU is a dry campus), so we had to take about 45 minutes to cite all eight of them for possession of alcohol. After we got done writing the informational report, it was nearly 1:00, and we weren’t half done with first rounds! So we restarted where we left off, and no sooner did we get back to the floor than we found another room with alcohol. Now it’s 1:30 (this guy argued more)… and we didn’t get done with first rounds until 2:15 (usually you get done about 12:45).
Second rounds were uneventful, but the damage was done. We stopped and wrote a few minor citations, and took a lot of time listening for sounds of loud partying (we even got a call about one floor), but the end result was that we didn’t get done writing reports and things until nearly 5 am. Boo. I slept until 3:30 p.m.
The other weird thing happened last night. I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed, when all of a sudden the floor started rumbling! It was kind of creepy, almost like an earthquake. But then, out of the valve on my bathtub, this white foam started oozing! I stepped back a bit, because the stuff showed no sign of stopping. As it started to fill the tub, I peeked forward and took a cautious sniff. Bubble bath? But it’s just foam… no water! And where is it coming from? I was thoroughly confused on just how bubble bath could come out of the joint on the valve (i.e., not really through a pipe from what I can tell) and leak into my tub. It kept filling and I just about called Maintenance lest it overflow the tub! However, just as the foam monster reached the top of the tub, it gave a great shuddering sigh and stopped.
I took a picture to prove I’m not daft
the foam was about 4-5 inches deep.
And also tonight I saw a music video on mtvU that was about two Eskimos. The girl Eskimo went on a trip around the world and sent the boy Eskimo postcards of her at each place she visited, and he waited and waited and waited for her to come home. Finally the girl Eskimo was at the last stop on her voyage, and as promised she sent the boy Eskimo another postcard… but this one was a photo of her and a surfer guy. And she never came home again.
How depressing.
Wierd!
Did you ever find out what the foam was?
I didn’t! I’m going to talk to a maintenance guy next time I see one, but it really smelled like laundry detergent. So I dunno!
Haunted room eh?
My take on the situation;
Someone was washing clothes in their tub, in one of the rooms above. Happens to me, alot..
Or maybe your room is just haunted.. ;p
Hey, what was that music video? Do you remember the artist’s name?
Talked to my dad about it, he said the sewer line may be backed up and stuff from a sink or something else may have just come up.
Hope that helps, though frankly, I doubt it will.
thats awesome seth! lol thats alot of foam :p
thats got to suck writing all those reports up.
at least you could sleep in though :p
