GameCube
I did my last SafeWalk duty (mmm, I will not miss it!) last night with Thomas and Shaye. Shaye’s boyfriend brought his GameCube and we all happily whiled away the hours playing Smash Brothers. It made me think that I should buy a GameCube, since having fun video games is often a good excuse to attract residents to my room 
Plus, GameCube games are fun 
However, I’m stymied by the fact that I have very specific requirements, and there are just toooo many listings on eBay to wade through. I don’t really care what color the thing is (although I like the black ones), but I want Smash Bros. and Double Dash, and only real Nintendo-branded controllers (none of the MadCatz or Wavebird icky controllers). And I don’t really want to spend more than one RA paycheck on all of it (around $80 $100).
Someone with more game console experience than I… am I just kidding myself? A GameCube, four real controllers, and two games, for under a hundred bucks?
Whenever my friends gather at a house I or another always brings either the game cube or the games and controllers. We can play smash bros endlessly if we choose. I am near unbeatable as link :p
I think what you should consider is buying the gamecube, smash bros and 2 controllers now and later on as price continues to decrease get 2 more.

I’m sure Ebay is probably even cheaper. But that’s just used on amazon.com. Excluding the gamecube and rounding up, the cost of used 3 extra controllers, a memory card and melee is $70 on amazon. Should be about half that on ebay.
A couple of my friends have the GameCube, and whenever we have sleepovers, they always want to have Super Smash Bros tournaments. I’m really horrible, so I usually end up watching most of the times. >_<

Without the controllers, its do-able, if your ok with having one or two controllers, maybe, but I think your going to have a hard time getting it all for about 80$. I think $140 or somethings should do it (Or well.. I think €140 would do it over here, if your willing to get second hand stuff.. not sure what the prices over there are)
But its worth a lot more imo.
(My GC alone costed me more then $140 :p (Though that was including a controller and memory card))
btw; Nintendo controllers also break.. just do SSBM enough, going hyper on the B button all the time, and after a while, it will break. Did for me anyway.. but that was after playing that game for an hour or more pretty much every day for several months.. so I gues I can’t blame the thing for breaking..

(And some cheap attempt at controller would have broke much earlier, probally, so its all fine really.
GameCubes + 1 game + 2 controllers are going for about $80 on eBay. Now I just have to get that 1 game to be Smash Bros…

Yeah… looking at all that, looks like I should be prepared to spend more than a hundred bucks. Mmph, lop off Double Dash (I can borrow it) and a couple controllers (we can play BYOC
) and maybe I’ll strike it lucky on eBay. Good things come to patient peeps.
i have all of that except my GC is silver :p and i have 4 wired controllers and one wireless controller. since i can laydown and play than :p haha
but i have to say that you will be spending more than $100 unless you find some seriously freeking good deal on eBay.
a used smash bros will probably like 10-20 bucks. depending where you go and all that stuff. memory cards like $5 used. usually good used memmory cards on ebay are good. you cant really do much to memory cards :p
although used systems are not bad. but they are not the best.i prefer new systems. my brother bought an used xbox over ebay and when it came it didnt work. and he took awhile to get they guy to send him one that didnt work. well since most dealers/people dont want a bad rep on ebay. the dude sent him 2 brand new xbox’s and my brothers friend fixed the broken one. :p
so long story short. be careful when buying systems over ebay. check everything. makesure everything works properly. make sure the condition is clean and like almost new if you are getting it used.

The revolution won’t be out for a while, and when it does come out, it’ll probably be even longer until the new Super Smash Bros. comes out. I’d get the gamecube now.

That looks like a good deal now, although you never know how much people will bid in the last 30 minutes. And none of the games are ones you mentioned, but you could probably end up selling those again later.

Your right, getting all what you want for about $100 isn’t going to happen…. Gamecube’s only sell for about $5
