Puzzle pieces
The computer falls into place. I picked up a Corsair 620W Power Supply for 25% off 30% off MSRP and free shipping. This thing is a beast, with modular cabling, a nice attractive black metallic finish, and a 5-year warranty.
And my FireStix arrived today, just 36 hours after I ordered them
I know I will have to wait on the case until early March and the video card until late March. But I’m grabbing good deals that aren’t likely to go obsolete now, while I can. I’ll wait on the processor until the forecasted Intel price drops
and you can never wait too long for the hard drives.
I’m guessing there is some sort of art to building a computer
1/2 art, 1/4 science, and 1/4 being patient for the good deals to come around so you can nab your components for awesome prices and save 60% off buying it from a store instead of just 50%
What I’m going to do is use my existing HDD temporarily, then save up to buy some good HDDs later on. I take it you’ll be doing something similar, no?
No, I’ve got plenty of cash. I’ll just be buying them last so as to get the best deal. I was looking at doing a Raptor + secondary but I’m not sure…
Seth, are you thinking about doing a RAID 0 (or) 1 with two Raptors? I would have loved to try that when I built my computer a year ago, but the Raptors were a bit expensive back then. Then I would have put my 250GB drive as the secondary.
Have fun building this thing.
