IdioPoll

I started work tonight on IdioPoll, a standalone polling script, after Stephen (one of the people I host) had me help him with this TERRIBLE polling script that looks like it was written in about three minutes. Seriously, that thing was awful. It was from scriptme.com, so note to self: never use scriptme’s stuff.

I’m about 40% complete on the basic script. Features:

  • Multiple Polls
  • Switch between active polls with a few clicks… and you don’t have to change any code on the page where the poll appears
  • Random poll: set multiple polls active and the script will randomly choose one to show
  • Completely customizable poll styles (and no CSS editing involved)
  • Allow single-vote (radio) or multi-vote (checkbox)
  • Display results as <div> blocks, simple images, or compound images (static left and right pieces).
  • Polls expire after x days / hours
  • Double-vote protection

Sure, there are probably excellent poll scripts out there already, but this is good practice for me.

UPDATE: Go get it.
